>> Which Brake Caliper Paint Kit is the best???
|

With brake caliper paint, as it is with most things... You get what you pay for. So although the
single stage ceramic based brake caliper paint kits may look attractive
based on price they truly can't measure up to a dual stage epoxy based brake
caliper paint kit in terms of heat resistance, finish and overall quality.
If you are going to take the time to paint your brake calipers you want them done right the first time.
A high quality dual stage epoxy based brake caliper paint kit is definitely the
way to go! It may be slightly more expensive at first, however you will only have to paint them once!
A high quality dual stage epoxy based brake caliper paint kit is
definitely your best choice!

Unfortunately there isn't really much you can do about this once it begins other than to repaint. It is
generally indicitive of one of two things, either:
Your best bet would be to purchase a high quality dual stage epoxy based
brake caliper paint kit and start over. Making sure to clean your calipers thoroughly and that
all residue is removed before applying paint!

>> Should I apply a clear coat after painting to add a high gloss shine???
|
|
I hate to sound like a broken record here... But most high quality dual stage
epoxy based brake caliper paint kits will cure to a high gloss finish, so there is no need for a
clear coat.
If you applied single stage ceramic based paint it will cure to a matte finish
and will require a clear coat to give it a high gloss shine. The problem with adding a clear coat is that
they are not heat resistant and will yellow and brown if exposed to the high temperatures associated with
the friction created for braking so it is not recommended that you apply them over a ceramic based finish.
If you want a gloss finish your best bet is to apply a high quality dual stage
epoxy based brake caliper paint kits which doesn't require a clear coat.

>> My calipers are already painted, can I paint over them???
|
|
If you use a high quality dual stage epoxy based brake caliper paint kits
you will have absolutely no problems. The beauty of an epoxy based paint is that it has amazing tooth and will
adhere to almost any surface.
If you are using a single stage ceramic based paint you may have to
remove the previous coating in order to achieve the proper adhesion.

>> Will painting my calipers have any adverse effects on them???
|
|
Painting your brake calipers will in NO WAY WHATSOEVER harm or otherwise adversely affect your brake
calipers or their ability to perform as expected. It is completely safe and harmless!

>> Can I use brake caliper paint on my rotors or other mechanical parts???
|
|
You can paint any portion of your rotor that does not come into contact with the brake pad, NEVER PAINT
BRAKE PADS or any part, mechanical or non-mechanical that comes into contact with their face! And a
high quality dual stage epoxy based brake caliper paint is the perfect
medium to paint valve covers and other assorted engine trim!

>> Where can I find a custom color brake caliper paint???
|
|
At the time of this writing the only brake caliper paint manufacturer I know of who is offering
custom color options is G2, although custom colors are
available in quarts only, they aren't available as single kits. So in order to get a custom color
you would need to purchase at least 8 kits.
